As summer draws to an end, it is again time to put on your best poolside chic and come out to support Marfa Live Arts—a local arts and education organization. The fundraising event Caftans and Casseroles features food, spirits, and local musicians this Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 5:30-8:30 PM at the Shurley Pool.
The location is a beloved Marfa treasure with a pool and tennis courts nestled in the north west edge of town located at 701 West 4th Street. The event will be like stepping back into the Marfa of the 1960s, so grab your best caftan and come hungry for casseroles by The Waterstop and complimentary spirits from Deep Eddy Vodka. Don't own a caftan? Worry not, beautiful caftans wills be curated and for sale by Raba Marfa during the event. A live poolside music score will take place from 5:30-6:30 PM featuring drum delays, ethereal guitar, and percussion discussion with TK Croft and A.DeSimone. After the performance, a curated playlist by JD DiFabbio and A.DeSimone will air from 6:30-8:30 PM live on KMKB, 98.9 FM or streaming on www.kmkb.org.

Marfa Live Arts is growing and we want you to be a part of it! Recently, we were excited to receive a transformational grant from Permian Basin Area Foundation to support our education programs and general operating cost. Our goal for Caftans & Casseroles is $15,000. This campaign is specifically for raising funds that are set aside to support programs with local artists and so that we can take advantage of opportunities that arise outside of our normal grant writing cycle. This keeps us agile and engaged within our community.
So far in 2018, we have held nine free events for the Marfa community ranging from electronic music from New York and Lebanon to the annual evening of One Act Plays, which are written by Marfa ISD students and performed by local actors. We bring diverse events throughout the year that consist of music, writing, dance, art, performance, theater, film, and more to Marfa.
If you have enjoyed any of of our events over the years, consider this fundraiser your chance to contribute to the continuation of such programming in Marfa.
Our organization strives to be inclusive, so in that spirit, we are keeping ticket prices for our Benefit Picnic nominal (with special pricing for locals) as well as encouraging patrons, especially those of you out of town and not able to attend, to sponsor seats or an entire table for our artists, students, parents, and the educators we work with at Marfa ISD.
Table for ten: $1,000 (with recognition as event underwriter)

Individual ticket: $75
Sponsor a seat for artist/educator/student: $75
Locals ticket: $50 (Limited Supply)
