SILVER OCHRE: Concert Piano and Film Workshop
Featuring Thollem McDonas & ACVilla
Thursday, October 27th from 2:30p-4p
Crowley Theater
Free
Marfa Live Arts welcomed Silver Ochre, the duo of composer Thollem McDonas and filmmaker ACVilla, for a two-week Marfa Live Arts’ artist-residency culminating with their show Who Are U.S.
To compliment this community concert and film screening Marfa Live Arts held an education concert piano and film workshop with Silver Ochre at the Crowley Theater. Interested students and community members were invited to attend on Thursday, October 27th from 2:30p-4p.
McDonas and ACVilla explain, “Our focus of Who Are U.S. is on the points where people meet their environment and each other. While driving through small roads, interstates and neighborhoods, we found ourselves talking about borders. We reflected that from fences to rivers to electrical lines to walls to roads to oceans, there are myriad ways that borders define us, and how we define ourselves by the borders we create.”
Silver Ochre’s Who Are U.S. is an ever-evolving poetic documentation of America. Using accumulative video, field recordings and live music the work showcases a collection of diverse sights and sounds from their nine-month tour of the 48 contiguous states.
Students were invited to the free concert and screening the following day at the Crowley Theater on Friday, October 28th at 7pm.
