The Mission of Joan of Arc

MISD Theater Class performance

December 10, 2014

Crowley Theater, 7p

Free and Open to the Community

During the Fall 2014 semester, Marfa Live Arts taught a Theater Class twice a week to sixteen 5th and 6th graders at MISD. On Wednesday, Dec. 10th at 7pm at the Crowley Theater, students staged their production of The Mission of Joan of Arc. Students learned acting and movement skills and were excited to stage the show for their friends and family. The Joan of Arc play was also part of a short film, titled MAID, that was shot at the Crowley Theater in mid December. MAID is a modern day tale of Joan of Arc set in Marfa, produced by Marfa Live Arts, Project X Theater and One Mind Films. Participating theater students had an exciting stage project to be a part of throughout the fall semester, but and gained experience in being part of a film production. The short film, MAID, is by award-winning playwright Erik Ehn who is Head of Playwriting and Professor of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University. Mr. Ehn was in Marfa for the December shoot and children’s performance, and he was available to work with the theater students.
