DANCE RANCH MARFA PERFORMANCE
Dance Performance with Lower Left and Workshop Participants
Sunday, August 6, 2017
Dance Ranch Marfa is a performance-oriented workshop focusing on dance improvisation taught by members of the Lower Left. The 2017 facilitators in Marfa were Nina Martin, Andrew Wass, Leslie Scates, and Margaret Paek. The performance at the Crowley Theater will showcase dance artists from all over the United States and the world who took part in the five-day workshop to share some of their dance investigations developed during the workshop.
Lower Left is dedicated to the spontaneous combustion inherent in the collaborative process, choosing to rely on the combined artistic vitality of its artists rather than the hierarchy of the traditional dance company. Following this collective model, both artistic and organizational aspects are centered around an openness and spontaneity that have become Lower Left’s trademark.
The Dance Ranch Marfa performance is free and open to the community.
For information on how to register for the workshop please visit Lower Left’s website.
Lower Left’s Dance Ranch Marfa is supported by City of Marfa. Special thanks to Tim Crowley, Rob Crowley & Peggy O’Brien of Crowley Theater, Mayor Dan Dunlap, Minerva Lopez of Marfa Visitor Center, and Rae Anna Hample.
