2024 summer shakeup MINDFULNESS THEATER CAMP

Camp Summer Shake Up is a partnership with Marfa Independent School District, Chinati Foundation, Marfa Studio of the Arts, Ballroom Marfa and other area nonprofits to provide area youth with learning enrichment opportunities.

This year, Marfa Live Arts presents Mindfulness Theater with arts educators Rachel Tate, Fatima Anaza and Nina Martin. A week-long camp focusing on improving health functioning through mindfulness exercises that teach healthy coping strategies using theater arts practices. Students also learn meditation skills through the art of play that are empowering and fun. Using body, voice and space — students learn tools for a healthy lifestyle including breath relaxation, being "in the moment,” improvisational acting techniques and more. The program culminates with a community performance on Thursday, June 13.
