The iconic, enigmatic Bob Dylan who has had a career spanning over six decades with eighty-one albums turned seventy-eight this Friday, May 24, 2019. Marfa Live Arts honored his legacy with an open-mic jam under the shade structure behind the USO/Marfa Visitor’s Center at 8pm.

Musicians who performed included: Brian LeBarton, Nick Bustillos, Ross Cashiola, Cookie Stone, Robert Lennon, Adrian Borg, Colt Miller, Pat Keesey, Robert Halpern, Lisa Kettyle, Tom Jacobs, Jennie Hamilton, Jon Johnson, Sam Walker, Robert Simpson, Sam Watts, April Armstrong, Bill Armstrong, Stephen Bright, Thom Thinn, Maggie McCollum with Fort Davis Contingency, Robert Roth, Joy Bates, David Gibson, Phyllis Kennedy, Andy Schneider, Ryan Rooney,  and Ross Fleming.

In the words of Forever Young on his fourteenth studio album Planet Waves (1974), Dylan writes, “May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung… May your heart always be joyful. May your song always be sung… and may you stay forever young.”
