VOCAL WORKSHOPS & CONCERT WITH ANNA TEAGARDEN

On February 16-18, 2018 Marfa Live Arts hosted sopranoist Anna Teagarden. Anna taught a three-day workshop to Marfa ISD students who currently have no choral program available to them at school. Teagarden’s style and love of teaching music to children is transformative.The workshop culminates with a concert for the community at the Crowley Theater on Sunday, February 18th at 7pm.

Artist Biography:
Anna Teagarden has been the Director of Children's Music at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 2005. She directs over one hundred children weekly in various children's choirs at St. Paul's. Anna is a member of Bach Society and sings regularly with the Bach Choir.  She has managed the Royal School of Church Music Gulf Coast Course, a course for aspiring young women interested in sacred choral music, for the past ten years. Anna taught Elementary music and was the Head of Fine Arts at The Fay School in Houston, Texas from 1999 – 2005. 

Anna received her Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from the University of Texas. She has performed regularly as a soprano soloist.  Acclaimed for her musicality and versatility, Anna has sung in many of the world's great Cathedrals, including Westminster Abbey, Ely Cathedral, Exeter Cathedral, York Minster, National Cathedral, St. Thomas 5th Avenue in New York City, and Thomaskirche Liepzig.  She has sung with the RSCM National Choir for three years. She also performs regularly as a jazz vocalist with leading jazz musicians.  During her formative years in Austin, you could find Anna on stage at Steamboat on 6th Street as a Hot Tomato, of the band Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes!
