On Saturday, July 2, Marfa Live Arts presented Beyond the Box, an evening of performance in three acts at the Crowley Theater. In its second year, Marfa Live Arts’ Beyond the Box featured the talent of Marfa artists and artists from the region.

Patrons were invited to view “A Cool Dry Place,” a new durational performative sculpture by Riley O’Bryan during a cocktail reception in the theater lobby sponsored by Pura Vida Tequila. At 8:30p, Jennie Lyn Hamilton performed “NOOS (No One Owns Space),” a piece that looks at the night sky and space through film, music, and movement. The evening concluded with "U Got the Look: A Tribute 2 Prince" presented by Nalu Gruschkus and Ryann Bosetti of Koa Nichole Choreography Co. which included a short film written and narrated by Gruschkus.

The annual Beyond the Box program launched in 2015 with a showcase that featured a film by David Fenster & Laura Copelin, performance by Gretchen Lee Coles, and concert with Diamond Hymen (with Moritz Landgrebe, Dione Acosta, Richard Covarrubias, and Ryan Penland.)

Beyond the Box is a free event honoring a diverse range of local talent premiering a new work.
